Poetry Sunday ~ The Voice of a Child

Rev. 3: 5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

The Voice of a Child

Written many years ago~Joni

A little seed, gently placed, into the hands of time.
Her soul was left amid the blooms in the garden of life sublime.
No one understood her quest and often nor did she.
There she dwelt in a cryptic world where eyes could never see.

Reaching out she uttered words, in hopes someone would hear.
But all alone the resounding truth whispered only to her ear.
She followed the path of righteousness the stones of suffering were lain.
Scattered among the rubble she bravely took the pain.

A force of light it beckoned her; the eden in her mind.
Surrounded by tranquility’s base, with souls so warm and kind.
Firmly standing in the pool of faith while others scoffed and scorned.
No one could see this young girl’s light or the wings that she adorned.

Cutting through, slashing her strength; all thought that she would fall.
Instead she rose above the realm to the place of duties call.
Sheltered within securities cage; no cry was she to mumble.
Awaiting the grace of a healing shield while always remaining humble.

The blessed healing swiftly came; her thirst did not subside.
Spreading her wings, surely to soar; one light her only guide.
Quenching her faithful desire, her pining never to cease.
Freedom stands at her doorstep...she now has gained release!!!

Luke 20: 36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.

* one definition of an angel: a person having qualities generally attributed to an angel, as beauty, purity, or kindliness.

Poetry Sunday ~ A True Christmas Story

Written in 1984 by me. Still holds true to this day! This was my gift to the family.

Job 10: 12 Thou hast granted me life and favour, and thy visitation hath preserved my spirit.

 A True Christmas Story

A tale was told one Christmas eve,
Tis' better to give than to receive.
But I have no gift, my pockets bare,
I am but a poet, my poem I'll share.
I rose from my bed on Christmas day,
The sun was peeking down where I lay.
I crept down the stairs so I could see,
Had Santa left gifts under my tree?
I wasn't surprised, left unamazed,
I stood at my empty tree and gazed.
No gifts to give, my heart did ache,
But I would go on for Christmas' sake.
I threw on my clothes, rushed out the door,
Just what is all this excitement for?
I have no gifts to give to thee,
No presents were left beneath my tree.
So how can Christmas be happy and gay?
What is the secret that makes this day?
I swung open the door, to my surprise,
My family was sitting before my eyes.
Greetings exchanged, hugs of embrace,
Smiles that lit the entire place.
"We're glad you're here, accept this gift.
Maybe then your spirits will lift."
I saw in their eyes a special glow,
That sunk my heart, and let me know,
That they were giving with deepest love,
For God had signaled from above.
The spirit of Christmas is a radiant gleam,
That shines through the soul, in a warming beam.
I have felt that warmth throughout the year,
By spreading laughter, joy, and cheer.
But a chosen day was set aside,
For all our arms to open wide.
So the gift I give has no ribbons or bows,
I'll give you peace that warms and glows.
I'll tell you I love you, I'll make you smile,
I'll see that your visit was worth the while.
I returned to my house, I plugged in my tree,
There sat a star gazing down at me.
I looked at the star with wondrous sight,
For God had appeared that Christmas night.
I was given the secret of Christmas eve,
Tis' better to give, than to receive.

Do you know what I know?

Acts 5:11 And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things.

Do you know what I know?

Said the mighty King
to the men on earth
Do you see what I see?
A world, a world
Falling all apart
Taking Jesus out of their heart
Taking Jesus out of their heart.

Said the man to his
God and Mighty King
Do you know what I know?
The earth, the earth
Shivers at the sight
Of your Son who was born on that night
Of your Son who was born on that night

Said the Son to the
People He died for.
Do you hear what I hear?
The sound, the sound
Echoes in the land
Of a voice who knows not where they stand
Of a voice who knows not where they stand

Said the King to the people down below
Listen to what I say
I will come and catch you unaware
Listen to what I say
The child, the child, that you brush aside
He will come once again you can’t hide.
He will come once again you can’t hide!

Luke 21:34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.

I'm Not Too Blind to See

Romans 14:12 'So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.'

I’m Not Too Blind to See

Man has eyes set on worldly things
I’m not too blind to see.
He roams around looking to find
others like him that agree.

He finds the wrongs then compares
I’m not too blind to see.
Man is lost; his pride beset
by a hate-filled anger spree.

Given free will we make a choice
I’m not too blind to see.
I choose to bow my head and pray
Outrage is not for me.

Silence is not an obvious route
I’m not too blind to see.
But I will not give satan
one ounce of strength from me!

There are fools among the crowd
I’m not too blind to see.
I’ll choose love any day
over animosity.

Prov. 14:15-16 The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going. A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.

Winter Peace

1 Cor. 16:6 And it may be that I will abide, yea, and winter with you, that ye may bring me on my journey whithersoever I go.

Winter Peace

A blanket of snow covers the ground
for all of the world to see.
I relish every moment
a flake falls down on me.

I see life through different eyes
while everyone is distracted.
Things slow down to a seconds pace
with many lives impacted.

The sounds are all amplified
through the overlay of snow.
Allowing you to hear the wind
breaking the trees bough.

People clothed in scarves and gloves
their boots protect their feet.
But often times people dress
for a fashionista retreat.

The multitude of masses
dress for outward show.
Would they dare robe themselves
for the God that we all know?

I don’t care for my skin to wrinkle
and wither from the sun.
I only care my actions please
the Great and Mighty One.

I’ll wear winter in my heart
All throughout the year.
And fill every single day
With the peace of Christmas cheer!

Job 13: 5 O that ye would altogether hold your peace! and it should be your wisdom.

Color me weird

Ruth 2: 10 Then she fell on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, and said unto him, Why have I found grace in thine eyes, that thou shouldest take knowledge of me, seeing I am a stranger?

When I wake in the morning and my feet touch the floor, I thank the Lord for allowing me this given day. As I saunter in to make my coffee, words of praise form in my head and I begin humming a praise tune.

When I take my dog out in the chill of the morning while the sky is alight with a full moon, I praise Him for all He has created. I see Him in the stars, the moon, the universe and thank Him for creating me.

I await my coffee to end its brewing time. I sit at my computer and begin prayers for those in need. I have never been short on prayer because each time my windowed world opens, there sits someone in need of prayer. I pray.

With a warm cup in my hands I sit and share love and praise and thank Him for placing the right people at the right time in my life. There is never a shortage of prayer needs. Even when people seem to be smiling and laughing it up, my mind hones in on them and I pray. For behind a smile is a heart; a heart that is in need of prayer as much as anyone else.

In my travels throughout the day, if someone cuts me off in traffic, I raise my hand and say, “I’ll pray for you” because I know in my heart that that person is in such a hurry and has so much on his/her mind they might forget that God is in control. They need prayer not a cursing too.

While shopping in the hustle and bustle of the season, I see people nickel-and-diming it to make ends meet and possibly trying to have a good Christmas. I pray for them while standing at the checkout. Color me weird.

People color me weird because I can’t take my eyes off of God. Sure I have bad moments, yes I hurt and get angry, I’m human but in the midst of one of those instances, God is there reassuring me that He’s got this and that I’m loved and in that moment I’m comforted.

The very essence of being a Christian is not taking your eyes off of God; even when you’re scrounging to pay the heating bill. Even when life is so hard it doesn’t have the color of richness that makes you want to go on. That is when you need God the most to carry you.

Christmas is the season where satan rears his tentacles and tries with everything he has to reach people; to make them feel unworthy, unappreciated, unloved and most of all not able to reach God. It is in these moments that God reaches in effortlessly and gets you through a season for man. Believers and unbelievers alike feel His presence. They might see it in the beauty of nature, they might feel it in a hug or warm well-wishers hand, but they FEEL God touching of them.

Pss. 44: 20 If we have forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to a strange god;

As church seats fill up during the Christmas season, more and more come to know the Glory of the Lord and for this reason God has allowed man to celebrate the birth of His Son on December 25th. When the season ends, people go back to the same old same old pagan traditions and forget what it was that touched them during the Christmas season.

Some will cling to that feeling like a snow-blanket hugging the ground. They will rise every morning thanking Him for yet another glorious day to be alive. They will begin each day in praise and worship and end the day in prayer and thankfulness. And people everywhere will…color them weird. I bow my head and pray!

Pss.69: 8 I am become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother's children.

Luke 1: 64 And his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue loosed, and he spake, and praised God.

Poetry Sunday ~ I was weeping...

John 19:25-26 Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!

I was weeping…

There were some who placed Him on the cross;
while others pulled His linen to toss.
Some were poking spears in his side
while women below were weeping and cried.

I was weeping.

Men were standing there mocking Him
some laughed and scoffed as His eyes grew dim.
Wails could be heard all across the way
as God put an end to the longest day.

I was wailing.

Some contend He was a guilty man
but only God knew his master plan.
Carried off to a cold empty tomb,
women followed; their faces bore gloom.

I was full of gloom.

In three days she came looking for
a Man that laid in the tomb no more.
Run and tell men to praise and sing
The Lord has risen, our Savior and King!

I was singing!

While many stood in disbelief
there were some who felt great relief.
Not all men nailed Him to that cross
Some people wept and felt the loss.

I was weeping.

Matt. 28:5-9 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you. And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word. And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.

Quotation Saturday

“The truth does not change according to our ability to stomach it.”
~ Flannery O'Connor

“Above all, don't lie to yourself. The man who lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes to a point that he cannot distinguish the truth within him, or around him, and so loses all respect for himself and for others. And having no respect he ceases to love.”
~ Fyodor Dostoyevsky

“The most important kind of freedom is to be what you really are. You trade in your reality for a role. You trade in your sense for an act. You give up your ability to feel, and in exchange, put on a mask. There can't be any large-scale revolution until there's a personal revolution, on an individual level. It's got to happen inside first.”
~ Jim Morrison

“Most men would rather deny a hard truth than face it.”
~ George R.R. Martin

“There is a light in this world, a healing spirit more powerful than any darkness we may encounter. We sometimes lose sight of this force when there is suffering, too much pain. Then suddenly, the spirit will emerge through the lives of ordinary people who hear a call and answer in extraordinary ways.”
~ Mother Teresa

“My soul doth magnify the Lord,
And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.”
~ Mary (mother of Jesus)

“We must become so alone, so utterly alone, that we withdraw into our innermost self. It is a way of bitter suffering. But then our solitude is overcome, we are no longer alone, for we find that our innermost self is the spirit, that it is God, the indivisible. And suddenly we find ourselves in the midst of the world, yet undisturbed by its multiplicity, for our innermost soul we know ourselves to be one with all being.”
~ Hermann Hesse

“My religion consists of a humble admiration of the illimitable superior spirit who reveals himself in the slight details we are able to perceive with our frail and feeble mind.”
~ Albert Einstein

“Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before! What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. What if Christmas...perhaps...means a little bit more!”
~ Dr. Seuss, How the Grinch Stole Christmas!

“How many observe Christ's birthday! How few, His precepts!”
~ Benjamin Franklin

“This, after all, was the month in which families began tightening and closing and sealing; from Thanksgiving to the New Year, everybody's world contracted, day by day, into the microcosmic single festive household, each with its own rituals and obsessions, rules and dreams. You didn't feel you could call people. They didn't feel they could phone you. How does one cry for help from these seasonal prisons?”
~ Zadie Smith

Snowflakes swirl down gently in the deep blue haze beyond the window. The outside world is a dream.
Inside, the fireplace is brightly lit, and the Yule log crackles with orange and crimson sparks.

There’s a steaming mug in your hands, warming your fingers.

There’s a friend seated across from you in the cozy chair, warming your heart.

There is mystery unfolding.”
~ Vera Nazarian

“The silent night takes on a whisper of God that only we hear during the bells chiming at Christmas.”

Nailed for You

1 Tim 1:17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Nailed for You

My nails they drip with blood
The pain will never end
I feel no one is listening
To messages I send.

The hustle and hurried world
Goes on without a care,
Ranting about the moment
In the media blitz they share.

Gossip crawls along the floor
Then slowly up the wall
Clinging to the idle ones
I slowly watch them fall.

Was death not enough for them
Were miracles a game?
Are blessings things that they seek
On a whim in my name?

While claiming that they look to me
They’re often caught unaware
Of falling in the pit to hell
Crying out that life’s unfair.

A voice was not given you
To babble like a brook.
Life was freely given
So it’s me to whom you look.

Wasted seasons spent
On anger that you spew
Withered moments now all gone;
Away from me you drew.

The time to call is not at death
Embrace me while you’re living.
To each and every one of you
My blood is well worth giving.

Col. 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

A Message to Convey

1 John 1: 5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

A Message to Convey

I rise up in the morning

What to do today?

Lord you’ve given life to me

Please tell me what to say.

The words they flow like currents

Of energy in my soul.

God places on my heart

Some words to make you whole.

The rhyme is always easy

The rhythm soon to follow.

I fill your heart with messages

The truth is hard to swallow.

The world is full of hatred

Your anger feeds the flame.

Satan’s very happy

That you help him play the game.

Demons linger the hollow street

That man will never see

People become too busy

You’ve asked them not to flee.

By allowing anger free reign

You diminish your own light.

You’ll never know peace within

Diminished is your sight.

Hear the words I offer

He’s asked me to convey.

Give to Him all Glory

On bended knee to pray.

1 John 3: 11 For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.

The Spirit is Upon Me

Rom. 1:9 For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers;

The Spirit is Upon Me

The Spirit is upon me
It’s not a heavy load
to give Him praise and glory
for all that He has showed.

The Spirit is upon me
I ask what I’m to say.
In truth and love He tells me
to make a brighter day.

The Spirit is upon me
the brilliant beams they reach
to the very core of me
a message for to teach.

The Spirit is upon me
I’m asked not to conform
to a world of darkness
my soul it will transform.

The spirit is upon me
It’s always there for you.
Just ask and He will enter
a guide to get you through.

Rom. 8: 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

Common Bonds?

Pss. 97: 10 Ye that love the LORD, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.

Prov. 8: 13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

Common bonds?

Bond in hatred, bond in love
Nothing makes any sense.
How can one be devoted
To a life that’s so intense?

Bond in glory, bond in joy
Blessings mount on high.
With humble adoration
My Savior’s drawing nigh.

Bond in hate, bond in love
There rises inner conflict.
Turmoil then slowly erupts
By the pain you chose to inflict.

Bond in glory, bond in joy
A peace-filled soul pursue.
You’ll never be at a loss
For blessings that ensue.

Bound to glory, bound to joy
My life is full of love.
Bound in peace, bound in mercy
Blessings rain from above!

Deut. 28: 2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.

Thank you my friend in Christ who rained unexpected blessing upon me. You see Christ in me, and I thank you! God Bless!

Poetry Sunday ~ SNOW!

Job 37: 6 For he saith to the snow, Be thou on the earth; likewise to the small rain, and to the great rain of his strength.

A crystallized snow drapes the ground
Covering the earth with nary a sound.
Falling like stardrops raining down
Christmas day draws near.

A velvet blanket for all to see
Frosty white clings to the tree
Now it’s time for a decree.
My Savior’s ever dear!

Immaculate snow; lacy night
Woke me to a glorious sight
Purity wins with all my might
My mind’s now vividly clear.

Prov. 25: 13 As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to them that send him: for he refresheth the soul of his masters.

Poetry Sunday ~

Psalm 91: 11-12 For He will give His angels charge concerning you, to guard you in all your ways. They will bear you up in their hands, That you do not strike your foot against a stone.

I See…

I see the Mighty One
Walk across the land.
All eyes turn to Him
Frozen where they stand.

I see the Mighty One
Look in disbelief
He’s not happy
They seek no more relief.

I see the weaker ones
Standing from afar
Mounting up treasures
Looking quite bizarre.

I see the Mighty One
Seeking out their praise
Worship and glory
Should always fill their days.

I see the Mighty One
Wiping out the blame
Sending His only Son,
So they will praise His name!

I see the weaker ones
With idols standing tall.
I see Him coming back
Chastising one and all.

I see the Mighty One
All eyes are not on Him.
I see them of the world
Their future’s looking grim.

Acts 12: 15 And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel.

Pss. 40: 16 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified.

My mind is in an altered state
I let the spirit flow.
I will not allow satan to sway
My earthly given glow.

Will you be knocking on a door
that’s set upon the cloud?
Hoping that the Lord will open
and welcome you out loud?

It can’t be done; He’s not there
you look in the wrong place.
You try and try to define
a man in heavenly space.

Laying up treasures in Heaven
cannot be silver and gold.
It’s the Glory of the coming Lord
in your soul for you to hold.

Prayers go up, sinners go down
is that what you believe?
A part of mans conforming
is his clever way to deceive.

My prayer is deep within my soul
my God not in clouds above.
He lay upon the truth in me
by giving me His love.

You cannot seek God out there
for He’s embedded within.
His love is given freely
when you change your ways of sin.

Pss. 119: 2 Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.

Should I Stay?

Habakkuk 1:5 Behold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvellously: for I will work a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though it be told you.  (KJV)

Should I stay?

Should I stay or should I go

Conflicting thoughts as you know.

Do I stay and try to conform

Or do I shout, “Look, I’m reborn?”

We often see this world as a riddle

God on top with man in the middle.

We try to fit in but just don’t know

Should I stay or should I go?

The world around has brought a chill

wrapped in the blanket of my free will

I have a seed that I must sow.

I’m sure I’ll stay, not ready to go.

I feel the change that’s covered me

I look to Him; it’s all I see.

I think I’ll stay, while they go

on with life their earthly show.

The Seed

Matt. 13: 23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

The Seed

Word has come that I am missed
I sense the wonders rising.
Where did you go, what’s happening?
Are questions not surprising.

I need a break from all the chaos;
the crazy thoughts in my head.
I turn to Him the One who counts
My Lord, my living Bread.

I’m still here and searching
for all my soul might need.
He answers me in whispers;
my spirit’s a living seed.

I’m told that I’m a beacon
that people look to see.
The Word flowing from my lips;
the Light shining forth from me.

He’s cleansing me from inside
strengthening my ways.
Allowing me to filter
fallacy through the haze.

The Lord has lightened my burden;
for those all wanting to know.
He’s laid on my heart what to say
The message that I must show.

Job 4:4 Thy words have upholden him that was falling, and thou hast strengthened the feeble knees.

What is a Christian

John 3: 3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

To me a Christian is someone who strives to be Christ like. Not to be perfect LIKE Christ was but to be Christ like in every word, in every action, in every breath of air. Anyone can say they believe in Christ but that does not make you a Christian, it makes you a believer.

Anyone can sling scripture around like it’s today’s top news, anyone can say the words I’m praying for you, but to be like Christ, you have to LIVE the scripture that you’re spewing. You have to get on bended knee when someone needs prayer. You can’t just claim to be a Christian because you believe you’re a Christian.

Did you know a Christian can spot a Christian from where they stand? How? By their actions. Christians have a light inside them that is emitted in everything they do. You won’t see a Christian spewing hate for any other human being because Scripture tells us to love our enemy. Do you hate the world? Pray for it! Do you hate the state of affairs? Pray for it. Do you hate, hate, hate? Pray for understanding. God does not dwell in the land of hatred. The things or people we might dislike would never be a public showing of hatred for a person, instead we will sit in prayer on bended knee asking God to show us where and how we can change that anger and ill will into understanding.

Being a Christian is hard work. It isn’t a statement you make to make others think you’re a walker of the Word. You cannot just say, “I’m a Christian” and think for one moment other Christians are going to SEE you as a Christian. They see you spewing hate, they’re going to assume you’re a believer, NOT a Christian.

When I see a believer pretending to be a Christian, it offends me, my faith and all I hold dear to my heart. I won’t finger point or judge but I begin praying for that lost soul. They need the understanding of the term Christian before they tout that they ARE a Christian.

The believers remind me very much of Atheist trying to strongly promote their beliefs but take no actions to what they are saying. Atheist profess there is no God, they spew without knowing if there is any proof. The believer believes in God but that’s as far as it goes. Their actions do not show them to be Christians, they are shown to be a believer.

I grew up in a Catholic household; again just a name to define us in some way. We never attended church; we never prayed as a family, we were Catholic in name only. At the age of fourteen I converted to Christianity. I became a born again Christian meaning I was now serving the Lord in all I did. Through being born again I was now seeing and feeling with new eyes.

1 Peter 1: 23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

When you become born again, you see God in an entirely different light. He places on your heart the truth, the law, the beauty in living life as a Christian. You now see the world through Christ’s eyes. Hatred for others not like you slowly becomes non-existent. You become the very energy of love that God passes through you and you then share it with the world.

Do Christians hate the Jewish for not believing in Christ? Do we hate Atheists? Do we hate Muslims? In a resounding bellowing echo, Christians around the world say, NO!
Do we like that the Muslims are killing Christians? No, but having the love of God and seeing through Christ’s eyes, we see the plan God has laid out. We SEE that this is His doing. The Muslims are bringing CHRISTIANS to HIM!

Atheists don’t see through God’s eyes, that is why no amount of proof will cause them to see Him. Christians don’t need proof because God is a living fountain of truth inside them. They see as He sees.

WWJD? Ask yourself this right before you start to spew hate. What would Jesus do? Would He hate this, would He hate that? Again, the answer is Jesus knows no hate. He is the embodiment of love and if you turn that hatred you feel into love you will slowly begin to know and understand just what Jesus would do.

To be born again, you will be renewed in Christ. You will then become what a true Christian is, Christ-like, a person who walks in the Spirit.

Gal. 5: 16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
[17] For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
[18] But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
[19] Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
[20] Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
[22] But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
[23] Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
[24] And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
[25] If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Happy Birthday Christopher

Pss. 91: 11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

To whom it may concern (or not) I am emotionally drained at this time and am in prayer for forgiveness, for understanding and for strength in fighting the enemy that sees me down and thinks this is the best time to attack. Just like him isn’t it? To kick me when I’m down?

You may say, “What’s wrong with her now?” Allow me to tell you.

Back in 1982 I found myself, a young teenager, pregnant. Two years prior I became a born-again Christian, so this pregnancy didn’t bode well with my Catholic family and me. My dad asked me what I wanted to do and without hesitation I said, keep my baby!

Talk about feeling unworthy! But by the grace of God I was saved and my pending due date was set for December 12th of that year. By November of that year God had a different plan for my life and it was clearly evident to me.

On the cold Thanksgiving Day, November 28th of 1982, I ate my meal and was feeling pretty sick with pains I assumed was gas. I was a child and knew nothing of what I was to feel, I thought the baby was moving around kicking me with no room to move with all that food I had put in my stomach.

The next day I arose, not feeling right. God and I had been talking, as we always did, and he was telling me it was time. Still young in my faith, I didn’t know how to interpret the meaning but I knew I had to go see the doctor because the baby had stopped moving.

I arrived at the doctors and my worst fear was realized, no heartbeat meant my baby had quietly fell asleep. I was sent to the hospital where they had ultrasound equipment to verify what I had known and felt. My baby was no more.

The father of the baby and my mother both went to the hospital with me and we all received the news, the baby was dead, gone, not meant to be. I was told I would have to allow my body ‘to reject the fetus’; those cold heartless words ring in my ear to this day! I would carry a lifeless being inside my body. I had to face my family and had to be strong or this would be the life of me.

Now keep in mind that my four brothers all hated the idea of me keeping the baby and had told me over and over again how I should’ve just killed ‘it’. My sister had her own issues with me keeping the baby. Only my mother, father and boyfriend had accepted my CHOICE in keeping my baby!

At 3:17 am on December 2, I gave birth to a son; a son who would never look me in the eyes. A son who would lay on that cold slab, never to let out his first cry. A son who made an angelic appearance at entry into the world by lighting the room to where even the doctor and nurse were mystified. Christopher Alexander was STILL born!

Pss. 148: 2 Praise ye him, all his angels: praise ye him, all his hosts.

I didn’t hold him, I didn’t do what now in hindsight I wished I had done and left the hospital later that day to recover at home. Mortified and empty I felt alone.

Everyone had assumed I would hate God for this and at my follow up appointment with the heartless doctor, he asked me how I was holding up emotionally.

“Well” I said, “devastated, empty, lonely, heartbroken. Every emotion you can imagine.”

He began jotting down stuff. “Are you angry at God for this?”

“NO!” I exclaimed point blank. “God took my son because He needed him. He is giving him more than I could ever imagine.”

He jotted more. In later years when I had finally got my medical records through unlikely resources, I saw that the doctor had jotted down ‘patient is unattached’, ‘shows no emotion’!

I wanted to sue the man’s pants off but again, I was a child; I knew nothing but I did understand forgiveness. I had to forgive this creepy, heartless, unfeeling doctor if I was ever to move on in life.

Every year it gets easier, but this year the memories hit hard because Thanksgiving fell on the 28th. The flood of emotions were overwhelming to the point not one person in my world can understand, and I don’t want you to just to spare you the pain.

I’ve grown a lot in these 31 years; I still speak to the Lord, I hear him in everything I do and carry Him wherever I go. Maybe now you can understand my indebtedness to my Savior and why I am such a faithful servant.

For by grace was I saved and He has never ONCE let me down. I may fall in the pit sometimes but the enemy won’t sway me while I’m down there, I carry a LIGHT within never to darken.

Matt. 4: 11 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.
