Rehab, the Story Continues: Santa is There

John 8:12 “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”

Three-and-a-half days! I made it. I made it to the weekend. But getting there was not without its many hurdles. This story is not all about ‘The Nursing Home’ ordeal, or the staff, this is about my journey, a fifty-two-year-old woman with stage four breast cancer, lymphedema of the left arm, radiation treatment to my bones and recovery of major surgery of my broken femur. Take for instance my Oral Chemo, it was running out, I did not have the wits about me to know how to reorder so I had to leave it up to my husband to take care of matters. The drugs I was on were pretty strong and keeping my mind busy and pretty much in a fog.

He called the Dr.s office, the nurse said she’d order it, no problem, he called back and Fay said it would be delivered Friday but needs a signature. Uh oh, hubby would have to miss work AGAIN, and miss seeing me all day to wait for meds! Not a happy gal but it’s okay, I’m tough and getting tougher by the day! Needless to say by three o’clock when the meds had not arrived hubby came to the hospital to visit me, even if it was only for two hours. He can’t drive at night, so we watched the sun (or lack thereof) very closely! A different story, the meds never arrived.

When Friday came I was happy to have made it to this day alive, although I had never wanted to give up more than I did this week. A loneliness had settled in, hubby knew it, and no amount of cuteness from Ray, or compassion from the staff could move me. It was a tough week on my spirit and soul. This was also the last day of radiation to my arm, and my son stepped up and said he could go to the CC with me. The weekend, I’d get a break, right?

Then there was the day earlier in the week that they had to take my clothes to put name tags on them, even though we told them WE would wash them, they needed to be tagged. (I didn’t hand everything over but I stupidly gave them lounge pants, two flannels, brand new socks, and a pair of underwear. All were returned by Friday except my underwear and socks. When Kay, my occupational therapist heard this she set out on a search of my missing panties. She returned to my room waving them in her hand and said, “Hey, no wonder they wanted to keep them, they’re cute!” We both laughed but I through my tears. She hugged me!

Then there was Santa. Thursday had been a day of sunshine and warmth and I had even had a chance to open the window. Ray didn’t like the window opened because it gave her a chill. She was on the other side of the curtain between our beds and didn’t know it was open. The warmth, the sun, it was all I had to cling to. Yes, people, before you tell me to cling to God, please know, HE is the only thing that kept my breath in my lungs, He is first and foremost, but the sunshine and the warmth were for me on this day.

Coming back from my radiation treatment that day found me in the sunshine. On the side of the entry to the hospital was a little area with a table and four chairs, lining a brick path were rocks, rocks of all shapes and sizes. Hubby and I followed the path, to the chairs and table and we sat in the sun, I in my wheelchair of course. We watched as nurses changed shift and a nurse had brought a resident outside to feel the warmth of the day. The table was back a little ways from the entry so hubby and I enjoyed the table and sunshine. I enjoyed the one monarch butterfly that landed on a rock not ten feet from me and my chair. Thank you, Jesus, I whispered out loud, as a tear trickled from my eye.

Then he appeared, an older man hunched over his walker. He was taking tiny steps as he scooted to the path. An obvious Husker fan dressed from head to toe in his puffy red Husker slippers, his red husker lounge pants filled with the Husker team logo, all topped off with his white t-shirt with a big N for Nebraska, trimmed in red on sleeves and neck. His full white moustache and beard were reminiscent of Santa Claus. Steven softly sang… ‘here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus, right down Santa Claus lane...’. I smiled.

Santa stopped at the rocks and just stood there looking down at them. One minute, five minutes passed and he moved, inching closer to where Steven and I were sitting. Again, Santa paused to stare at the rocks. He was within earshot of me now, I said, “Do you like the rocks as much as I do?” I myself was eyeing one shaped like a heart. Yeah, I draw to me these kinds of people.

He looked up at me, then back to the rocks before he answered, “Yeah.” He began inching closer to me again, and stopped, mesmerized by the rocks. He began talking without looking up from the rocks, “They’re beautiful. Back in my shop, I take CLR to clean them. It brings out their beauty, then I polyurethane them. Yup.” He began to turn around and looked at the other side of the path lined with rocks.

As he slowly turned, he made his way right to the edge of the path. I thought he was turning to go back in the home but no, he paused to look at this side of the path, too, before heading inside. Staring at the rocks he whispered,

“Y’know, it’s like looking at a million mountains,”  he went on, “Y’know how the rocks are made don’t ya? The rain,” he paused a moment, “the rain cuts them out of the mountains and they all wash downstream, getting cleaned up through the river until we gather them and see them for their beauty.”

By this time I had tears in my eyes and Steven and I were both looking at each other in wonderment. I knew there was a message in there for me but I couldn’t see it through my tears. Santa looked at me and smiled raised a finger to tap his nose and he proceeded to slowly walk back to the door, with one last quick pause to gaze at the rocks, he went inside.

I told Steven that it was now time for me to go back inside too, I got what I came for, a message. I picked up a rock, and we went inside the home, to my room. It didn’t seem so small anymore.

The moral of the story to me is: We are all refined by God made perfect in His image as we go through the trials and suffering of being washed downstream until we’re seen in our perfection before the Lord.

Isa. 48:10 “Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.”

A Child Will Lead Them

Isaiah 11:6 “In that day the wolf and the lamb will live together; the leopard will lie down with the baby goat. The calf and the yearling will be safe with the lion, and a little child will lead them all.”

A Child Will Lead Them

Why would God choose a child to lead them? Is it because of the innocence of a child who sees no wrong and can only see the good? Who loves without condition?

Matt. 19:14 KJV
But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

NIV
Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

God has chosen the humble innocent children of the world to scatter in heaven and have a safe place to call home. It is these little children who are going to lead us because a grown man who has been stupefied by imaginations of the world that has destroyed any chance of being a leader among men.

Children hold in their heart a peace that man lost long ago and only the innocent child understands this peace. The Lord asks us to become like children and strive for that innocence in loving all but man has built up a hatred for everything under the sun that he unhinged the chain and can’t get that innocence back.

Children are not yet tainted by the world. When you see a one-year-old taking his/her first steps, what do you see? You see a trust that their little legs are going to work and lead them where they want to go. Often times they fall and get right back up and persevere until their legs can carry them where they were headed.

A grown man tainted by the world sees hate. He has to share hate, spread hate and for some reason says he is a man of God? Does that man even read and understand what it is that God is teaching us in the bible? With over 50 different versions of the bible, it’s not hard to see why man is so confused with what he is putting his faith in today. I totally get that the many translations of the bible say the exact, no wait, almost the same exact same thing throughout but what I’m saying is, that man has been led around on a string and now wanders lost and confused because he doesn’t understand what he is reading!

When the bible says the kingdom of heaven belongs to the MIND of the man who has a child-like innocence, the grown man misinterprets those words as he must act like a kid joking and laughing with asinine behavior, he is a confused man. Coming to Christ in a child-like manner you need to put on the armor of innocence, gentleness and purity; something man lost in his pursuit of hate.

I am not pleased with my fellow Americans who show no self-control. They badger, berate, live life to hate all the while using the term for the love of their God. Wow, sounds like a lot of the men they themselves condemn. Does that make you any different than the man you hate?

For the love of God, can’t one day pass where you don’t spread your hatred for man? This world is in need of a child to lead and at this rate of a hate-filled world, we are being led by the dark one on the path that he has set. Follow little ones (small-brained humans) because my ever-loving God is not happy with the plan that you chose for yourself, you follow the dark seed in a blatant obvious procession spitting in His face the inheritance He had set for you. God help us all!

Psalm 33:12 KJV "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance."

You Tube Junkie (mild language)

Rom. 1:24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:

You Tube Junkie

I’m a You Tube junkie I’m a man
Clicking all the booty that I can
There are dogs and kitties
And big fat titties
I’m a You Tube junkie; I’m a man.

I’m a You Tube junkie with a plan
Clicking all the thumbnails that I can
With boobies and butts
And possibly some sluts
I’m a You Tube junkie; I’m a man!

I’m a You Tube junkie yes I scan
Every single video I can
With the safety off
Don’t you dare scoff
I’m a You Tube junkie; I’m a man.

I’m a You Tube junkie ladies man
Wasting fifteen hours in a span
I wake up in the morning
I give nobody warning
I’m a You Tube junkie, yes I am!

Now before I get hate mail and offended people giving me feedback, this is in no way targeted to the casual life living people who actually use You Tube for some of the beauty it holds in Christian feeds.

I myself have found some terrific posts on Bible history and Christian music and I’ve even ventured off and found some funny dogs or cat videos. Good Mythical Morning with Rhett and Link are pretty funny and often clean. (They actually have wives and kids so they understand the need for pure innocent fun.)

This is targeted at the (mainly) men who feel that taking the SAFETY OFF is an innocent way to search. Sorry, but nothing good comes from SAFETY OFF. Can you imagine driving without a seatbelt just because it is ‘hindering’ your driving? Answer me this, how is the SAFETY ON hindering your You Tube viewing? I know how… you don’t get the enjoyment of hugging Satan and all he has for you? You miss out on promiscuity and sin? You do know the thumbnails are just lures right? Yeah, have fun with that.

Mark 4: 19 And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

Lent: Day forty-four ~ Salt & Light

Matt. 5: 13-16 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Have you ever eaten a softened boiled potato, plain? How does that taste? I prefer a little salt on my food; seasoned up nicely otherwise it is very bland. Your life as a Christian should be making an impact on those around you just as the salt does to the potato, by adding seasoning to their life. Not a bold chili-pepper type of seasoning, just a tad bit of salt.

God is calling us to be the salt and Light of the earth.

Salt as a preservative ~ In ancient time salt was used to keep meat from spoiling. Salt in those days was as important as a refrigerator is to us today. If we faithfully represent Jesus, we can leave a positive effect on those around us.

Salt adds flavor ~ Just as salt can add a welcome flavor to your potato. Even if we’re not the brightest bulb in the world, we can allow the Holy-Spirit to shine through us thus adding a nice touch of flavor to those around you.

Salt penetrates ~ It doesn’t take too much salt on that potato to make the entire meal have extra flavor. A godly person has that penetrating capability to those around them.

Salt makes you thirsty ~ When you walk in a godly fashion through pain and strife and overcome obstacles that others struggle with, people want to know where you get that peace and strength from; they thirst for the same tranquility in their lives. We are called to be salt of the earth to show them that through God, they too can find the inner peace.

Salt spreads nicely ~ It doesn’t take an enormous amount of shaking of the salt-shaker to season the whole plate of food. Think of it this way, thousands of years ago, Jesus seasoned just a small batch of potatoes. Me sharing what Jesus has done in my life is the most effective form of spreading the Gospel.

Salt can lose its flavor ~ Matt. 5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
This is what happens to believers who allow sin to rule their lives, they lose the impact they could have had on people when delivering the message of Christ.

Salt in excess can backfire ~ I remember my mother used to make chicken-noodle soup and share it with me, it always had way too much salt so I got the recipe and made my own, sharing it with her. She told me that mine tasted better than hers! Why? Because I used less salt.Too much salt is not a good thing.

One can spread too much gospel and actually deter people from Christ. Spreading the Gospel should be lightly seasoning lives not overpowering them to where they flee from Christ.

We are called to be the Light of the world. The Light within you comes from Christ. It can be a beacon for all to see. Just as a lighthouse is a guide, you can be a guide for others who are struggling in their belief. You don’t even need to be a lighthouse; just a simple candle in a darkened room can give just the right amount of Light.

But remember even a candle can lose its brightness. When we allow sin to permeate the environment the candle becomes dim. You need to keep the fire stoked by trimming off the excess wick so the flame burns brighter and brighter.  This is how obedience to Christ keeps us shining for all to see.

If you are being salt and light, you are impacting the world! Through your actions, behavior and treatment of others all lends to your Christian character. You can either guide the ships into a safe harbor, or drive them further out to sea. The Lord calls us to purify our souls and allow people to SEE the PURITY in you; you then become salt and Light to the world.

I hope by the end of reading this post I made you hungry, and not for potatoes and chicken noodle soup either, hungry for CHRIST! Now go on out into the world and add a little salt and Light.

Praise be to God!

A New Year ~ 2014

Pss. 65: 11 Thou crownest the year with thy goodness; and thy paths drop fatness.

A New Year ~ 2014

My eyes shall see tomorrow
For today has gone away
A year that I put in the past
A new one’s come my way.

While others all celebrate
In partying lights galore
I’ll be home in quietness
Your peace for me I adore.

My eyes shall see tomorrow
I’ll face a brand new day.
With sunshine and happiness
That can never go away.

I’ll see the Light forthcoming
And it will shine from me.
Through works and salvation
I taste true purity.

Jer. 29:11-13 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

Poetry Sunday

Temptations Garden

Slithering along the garden path,
evil lurks the ground.
Hunting for the perfect host;
the soul of woman found.

Placed upon her soft-toned breast,
sweet petals she adorns.
A scent of misconception,
the rose with all its thorns.

Perched on top her flowing hair,
she wears a crown of lure.
A man now present within her sight,
leads to thoughts impure.

Brazen with her nudity,
her taunt and tease begin.
Drawing the inner mind of man,
unleashing the first sin.

Evil bridles the stolen path,
relishing the prize.
The goal of lust and greed defined;
now sewn in humans eyes.

Guilt and shame are evident,
the garden sighs and weeps.
Humans bound to Lucifer,
the soul within them sleeps.
Rise up now you vacant souls;
a thundering of grief.
Rays of sun will shower down,
offering relief.

Lay claim to all the light bestowed,
behold the skillful presence.
Slay the dark with purity,
capturing true essence.

Do not let the garden die.
Singe the weeds within.
Fight the gnashing of his teeth.
Spurn the tempting sin.

Steadfast in the pursuit of love;
a measure of true beauty.
See it not as a burdened chore,
but humankind's real duty.

I share with you my wisdom's words.
Against the evil harden.
Awaken now in the realms of heaven,
leave Satan to his garden.
