Poetry Sunday ~ Stardust Sand

google image

Job 38:7 “When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?”

Stardust Sand

Friends often come and go
Acquaintances pass you by
Souls that meet on stardust sand
Will give you wings to fly.

Land is stiff yet supple
Footprints dot the path
Darting here and over there
Meeting raindrops wrath

God extends his hand to you
And pats you on your way
He never lets your fall
Define who you are today

A friend is one you turn to
When soaring through the sky
You're souls that met on stardust sand
God gives you wings to fly.

Quotation Saturday ~ The Year of Change

Matt. 6:34 “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

NEW YEAR

“Hope
Smiles from the threshold of the year to come,
Whispering 'it will be happier'...”
~ Alfred Lord Tennyson

“For last year's words belong to last year's language
And next year's words await another voice.”
~ T.S. Eliot, Four Quartets

“I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes.

Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You're doing things you've never done before, and more importantly, you're Doing Something.

So that's my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody's ever made before. Don't freeze, don't stop, don't worry that it isn't good enough, or it isn't perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life.

Whatever it is you're scared of doing, Do it.

Make your mistakes, next year and forever.”
~ Neil Gaiman

“A bridge of silver wings stretches from the dead ashes of an unforgiving nightmare
to the jeweled vision of a life started anew.”
~ Aberjhani

CHANGE

“Be the change that you wish to see in the world.”
~ Mahatma Gandhi

“Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
~ Rob Siltanen

“The world as we have created it is a process of our thinking. It cannot be changed without changing our thinking.”
~ Albert Einstein

“Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.”
~ Rumi

GROWTH

“The only way that we can live, is if we grow. The only way that we can grow is if we change. The only way that we can change is if we learn. The only way we can learn is if we are exposed. And the only way that we can become exposed is if we throw ourselves out into the open. Do it. Throw yourself.”
~ C. JoyBell C.

“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”
~ Anaïs Nin

“Just because I liked something at one point in time doesn’t mean I’ll always like it, or that I have to go on liking it at all points in time as an unthinking act of loyalty to who I am as a person, based solely on who I was as a person. To be loyal to myself is to allow myself to grow and change, and challenge who I am and what I think. The only thing I am for sure is unsure, and this means I’m growing, and not stagnant or shrinking.”
~ Jarod Kintz

“My turn shall also come:
I sense the spreading of a wing.”
~ Osip Mandelstam

SPIRITUAL

“The moon is a loyal companion.
It never leaves. It’s always there, watching, steadfast, knowing us in our light and dark moments, changing forever just as we do. Every day it’s a different version of itself. Sometimes weak and wan, sometimes strong and full of light. The moon understands what it means to be human.
Uncertain. Alone. Cratered by imperfections.”
~ Tahereh Mafi

“Sometimes our light goes out, but is blown again into instant flame by an encounter with another human being.”
~ Albert Schweitzer

“That which God said to the rose, and caused it to laugh in full-blown beauty, He said to my heart, and made it a hundred times more beautiful.”
~ Rumi

“People tend to be generous when sharing their nonsense, fear, and ignorance. And while they seem quite eager to feed you their negativity, please remember that sometimes the diet we need to be on is a spiritual and emotional one. Be cautious with what you feed your mind and soul. Fuel yourself with positivity and let that fuel propel you into positive action.”
~ Steve Maraboli

“Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies.”
~ Mother Teresa

“I sense it in the breath of the morning, the rising of the sun, the brisk cold that kisses my skin; this is the year of change.”
~  Joni

A Snowflake?

A Snowflake?

There was a snowflake that fell
On my nose without a smell
Cross-eyed I did look
It trembled and shook
It found a new place to dwell.

The snowflake began to squirm
It wriggled like a worm
It began to slip
Down to my lip
A snowflake I can’t confirm.

The thing began to tickle
Feeling kind of fickle
I blew in the air
Without a care
I seem to be in a pickle.

It came down in flight
What a beautiful sight
Unlikely weather
For snowflake not feather
A message on wings of white.

“Feathers appear when Angels are near.”

This is the poem I wrote for my mother, whom just lost her husband of sixty years. This is her Christmas present. I told her I’d write one that wouldn’t make her cry and I’m hoping I succeeded. I also put in the envelope a white feather.
Comments are much appreciated.

Pss. 91:4 “He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.”

Angel's Among Us

Ps.8: 5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

Angels among us
***

You feel their presence
throughout the day
you know their there
but can you say?

By chance it happens
and so you believe
the angels are not
ones to deceive.

Wrought with pain
this they know
a loving light
is what they show.

As snowflakes gently
fall to the ground
the angels move
without a sound.

Whispers of power
to give you strength
measured in love
eternity’s length.

You flow in the light
the touch of art.
The angels tattoo
is across your heart.

I do not worship
the celestial being.
For God alone
grants all I’m seeing.

All glory and honor
to the One True Light
as angels watch over
in the still of the night.

Pss.91: 11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

Pss. 103:20 Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.

The Angels Called

Ex. 23:20 Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared.
***
~~The Angel’s Called ~~

The angels came from mounted high,
cradled his soul I don't know why.
Wrapped in fleece-like softened wings;
silenced now he no longer sings.

Nestled within a tidal womb
fertile bed becomes a tomb
Shrouded in the serene abode
a vacant place his body stowed.

Earthbound duty not his call,
a rain of stars on him did fall.
Whisked away before I could hold;
a lifeless body lay there cold.

Summoned to be an angel himself.
Journey of breath put on a shelf.
Though I miss his earthly duty;
I savor now his angelic beauty.

Today is the BIRTHday of my son, whose eyes I never saw, whose heart that didn’t beat, whose arms were never touched, for we never did meet.

Happy Birthday to Christopher Alexander

Poetry Sunday ~ These Wings

Pss. 104:4 Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:
***

These Wings
(c) Joni Zipp
***
These wings I have are heavy
as I stand out in the rain
trying to carry the burdened world
through troubled times and pain.

These wings I have are broken
from the blades that tried to maim.
The world is gray and cloudy
as I look out through the flame.

These wings I have are drooping
as if I’ve no more care
nothing left inside of me
to make the plumage flair.

These wings I have are shelter
from all the tears I’ve shed
through turbulent times they flutter,
as if calling out the dead.

These wings I have will carry me
to the next phase of my life
through worrisome tribulations
over mountainous new strife.

These wings I have will guide me
to serenity and peace.
The Lord will breathe his glory
and give my soul release.
