Time Stands Still

Time stands still
for mother and daughter
as she grows to be a woman
she remains, the baby
her mother held.
Time stands still
as daughter grows
and mother sees in her, the child
that she raised and wonders
where all the years have gone.
Time stands still
and both become women
doing their own thing
believing their own thoughts
no longer one, bound by youth.
Time stands still
as the waters of time
carries both forward and the sands
creep on the shore as a reminder
that love never passes away.
for mother and daughter
as she grows to be a woman
she remains, the baby
her mother held.
Time stands still
as daughter grows
and mother sees in her, the child
that she raised and wonders
where all the years have gone.
Time stands still
and both become women
doing their own thing
believing their own thoughts
no longer one, bound by youth.
Time stands still
as the waters of time
carries both forward and the sands
creep on the shore as a reminder
that love never passes away.

Author’s note: I always write my mother a birthday card. Her birthday being on March 23rd, this is her present. Besides me of course. :-)
Psst...We share the same birthday. ;-)

Time falls away, but these small hours still remain.
I hear ya! Amen to that one! :-)
Ah Yes, I got this one early. :) And I'll say it again, beautiful tribute. I wish both of you a happy birthday.
How lucky to be born in the spring!

Birthday? Did I miss your birthday!
(And where was I???)
If I did I hope you had a wonderful day -- and LOTS of cake.
:)
Beautiful poetry!
Take care,
June
I think I should have stated that my birthday is coming up on the 23rd of March. :-)
Oh...So I've not missed it yet...cool!
Take care,
June
My mother got the card tonight and just as I expected...the tear factor worked.
If you don't FEEL something reading my poems then my job is not complete. :-)
