Poetry Sunday ~ Secrets ~

Rom 2: 16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.

Anxiety

Anxiety has a grip on me
clenched in its fist
held by my wrist
fear is not, letting me be.

I wander the room
seek out a light
try hard to fight
the inner walls of doom.

Lost and alone I am not free
the pain is there
no one to care
doing it all relentlessly.

Words are framed
a hidden joy
a beleagured toy
my inner body maimed.

Wrestle the solid emotion
wring it out
try to shout
it’s all just a silly notion.

A healing place I’ll find
the Lord a Light
always my fight
my soul is warm and kind.

SECRETS
(c) Joni Zipp
***
Secrets are lies in disguise
veiled in mystery building misery

Secrets are entombed in the womb
the edge of deceit, mottled heat.

Secrets are a betrayal, trust that’s a fail
hidden from love behind the white dove.

Secrets are lies in disguise
there’s no excuse for the mangled ruse.

Secrets have no place, no face
they shield the field of disgrace.

Secrets are kept while other hearts wept
they lie in wait to open the gate.

Secrets are flares otherwise cares
the mask of ruin, not cluing you in.

Secrets will shred the intimate bed
from there you’ll rise and wake the dead.
***

You know, I’ve had people hide things, lie to me, keep secrets all of my life and I wonder what on earth they were thinking? Is it from God that one would do these things? And if not, is it from the opposite realm? Well now, that gives me something to think about.

The Lord has been leading me in many directions in my life and I follow according to his will. I know why Steven is here in Nebraska, this is his home, among other things. I know why Adam is here, because this is a safe haven for him to grow in, but why, why am I here?

Oh...that’s right, because this is where He WANTS me to be. AMEN to that!

If you reveal your secrets to the wind you should not blame the wind for revealing them to the trees.

Wow,

Two powerful poems at once! I use to wonder why people insist on keeping secrets when a simple confession would free them of the weight of deception.I prefer not to have them whenever possible because it gets too damn confusing to remember which secret belongs to which person. It's easier to keep things simple.
I'm no stranger to anxiety. Seems like the world is full of it. It doesn't make things better and often times it makes you weaker. It's true, worrying won't solve the problem or make it go away. It's just a form of torturing yourself.
That's why there's prayer. And you can do that anytime and anywhere because that line is always open.

Wonderful poetry.

Thanks Raven,
I just despise those secret keepers.
I am honest to a fault. Those that keep secrets are born and bred liars, secret=lie, same thing.

As for my anxiety, I was doing pretty good until yesterday. It's amazing how we win the battle and then it just creeps back in and overwhelms us.

Prayer, that is all I can do. :)

I always remember the sparrow. If God cared so much for a single sparrow, you gotta know he cares about you. Try taking pleasure in the order of things, the way nature seems to follow through, no matter what. The way the sun always rises, though you may not be awake to see it.

I'm glad I don't have to worry about such things. I don't want to be in the driver's seat. I want to look at the scenery for a while and enjoy the ride.

I agree with Raven -- two powerful poems.

Anxiety - I like the various paths that one might explore and how to overcome things which seem like mountains.

Secrets -- wow! all the facets and roads that hid beneath secrets. I'll have to think more about this one. And...I see a short story forming...

Excellent, Joni!

Take care,
June
